1. WebSpeak Introduction & Setup

1.1 - What is WebSpeak?
------------------------------------
WebSpeak will give your web page life and make it much more fun. When someone visits your web page, a Microsoft Agent character pops out and starts talking. You can program the character to speak, or select an animation from many animations. WebSpeak is extra easy to use and no programming or coding knowledge necessary. WebSpeak will create the code for you. It's that simple.
1.2 - System Requirements ------------------------------------ Requirements to Run WebSpeak - Windows 95/98. - Internet Explorer version 3.02 or later - A Pentium 75 MHz PC (or faster) - At least 16MB of RAM. Requirements to Preview the Created Web Page - A Windows-compatible sound card. - Microsoft Agent 2.0 Control (Automatically downloaded when viewing an Agent web site) Microsoft Agent Web Pages (such as the ones created with WebSpeak) require a browser that supports the ActiveX technology such as Internet Explorer 3.02 and up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Using WebSpeak ------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.1 - Creating a Script: ------------------------------------ Creating a script in WebSpeak is a very easy task. All you have to do is to select the commands that you want to add from the commands drop down list. The script will run in the sequence added, or as in the order in specified in the commands list. The script starts running from top to bottom. Each command can have a set of properties that can be edited in the right hand side of WebSpeak window.
2.2 - What Does Each Command Mean: ------------------------------------ Here is a description of WebSpeak Commands that you can add to your script: Speak: This command will allow the character to Speak. You can customize the pitch, speed, and make the character whisper. Play Animation: You can select an animation to be played using this command. Select an animation from the list. Move To: Change the location of a character by choosing the X and Y location in pixels. The scroll bars represent the horizontal and vertical position of the character based on the given display settings. Pause: Pause for the time specified in seconds. Show Character: Show the character. You must show the character before using the character. Hide Character: Hide the Character.
2.3 - Previewing the Script's Code: ------------------------------------ You can preview the HTML Code of the script by going to the File Menu/View HTML Code. You can also copy the HTML Code or the Script Code to paste somewhere else by going to Edit Menu/Copy HTML Script or Edit Menu/Copy Script Code.
2.4 - Running the Script: ------------------------------------ You can run the script by going to File Menu/Preview. You must have Internet Explorer 3.02 or higher to preview the script. Microsoft Agent Web Pages (such as the ones created with WebSpeak) require a browser that supports the ActiveX technology such as Internet Explorer 3.02 and up.
2.5 - Add Your Own HTML Code: ------------------------------------ You can export the Script into an HTML file. The HTML file will have nothing be the programming for the character. You can add your own content by adding HTML code where it says: Or you can copy the Script Code (Edit Menu/Copy Script Code), and paste it in any html file you want.
