Claudio Tumeo studied guitar at the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan under the guidance of Maestro R. Chiesa and got a full marks diploma. Later on he specialized with O. Ghiglia, B. Davezac e D. Russell. More and more attracted by the ancient instruments, in 1989 he devoted himself to the lute and the ancient guitars and improved his interpretative technique with P. Beier, J. Lindberg, A. Rooley, C. Wilson e P. Cherici.

Winner of numerous prizes in national and international musical contests (Taranto 1985, Gargnano 1985) he carries on a regular concert activity. Last spring he took part in the prestigious festival “Lute & Guitar Virtuosos of Italy”, which takes place every year in Singapore and he was invited to perform in homage to the famous composer and lutist Francesco Da Milano for the fifth centenary of his birth. He went on tour in Japan, Switzerland, Portugal and Singapore whether as a soloist or in a duet.

“The Knight of the Lute” is the title of the CD recorded with the Renaissance lute. It includes the seven fantasie by different authors which Robert Dowland gathered in the Varietie of Lute Lesson.

The CD was enthusiastically reviewed in the specialized magazine “il Fronimo”: among other things, it brought out “the admirable enthusiasm and poetry” which characterize the performance of these pieces and Athe stunning interpretation of the majestic fantasia by Gregorio Huwet.

He collaborated with several groups of ancient music and recorded a CD (Dynamic) with the Collegium Pro Musica of Genova, entirely dedicated to the Venetian composer B. Marcello.-
