THE HEART SUTRA

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva,

when practicing the deep Wisdom which-goes-beyond,

clearly saw that the five aggregates are void,

and thus overcame all pain.

- Shariputra, form does not differ from voidness,

voidness does not differ from form.

Form is just voidness, voidness just form.

So also are feelings, notions, impulses and consciousness.

- Shariputra, all phenomena are void by nature

not born nor destroyed, are not tainted or pure,

not waxing or waning.

Therefore in voidness there is

no form, feeling, notion, impulse, consciousness;

no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body or mind;

no color, sound, smell, taste, touch, or object of mind;

no realm of sight and so on until no realm of mind-consciousness;

no ignorance nor ending of it and so on

until no aging and death and no ending of them;

No suffering, no cause, no extinction and no path;

no knowledge, and no attainment.

Because there is nothing to attain,

the Bodhisattva lives by the Wisdom which-goes-beyond

and has no obstacle in the mind.

Without obstacles no fears exist

and far beyond all illusions there is Ultimate Nirvana.

Living by the Wisdom which-goes-beyond

all Buddhas of the three times

realize the Supreme and Perfect Enlightenment.

Know then, that the Wisdom which-goes-beyond

is the great mantra, the great bright mantra,

the highest mantra, the peerless mantra,

able to remove all woes.

this is true, not false.

So recite the mantra of the Wisdom which-goes-beyond:

GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SVAHA. (3X)

(Gone, gone, gone beyond, altogether gone beyond, awakening, svaha!
