Aris Christofellis, the celebrated sopranist, was born in Athens on February 1960 and after having studied piano and singing in Athens and Paris, in 1984 he made his debut in Bordeaux and in 1985 he sang Mozart's Exultate, jubilate at Cannes Midem Classique inauguration concert, receiving enthusiastic consents from public and critics. He has made many recordings for France Musique and Antenne 2 and since 1987 he has been singing in important productions of baroque operas: Scarlatti's Il trionfo dell'onore in Paris (Theatre du Chatelet); Vivaldi's L'Olimpiade in Paris (Theatre du Champs Elisees) and in Barcellona (Palao de la Musica) during Olympic Games in 1992; Handel's Arminio (Festival de Montpellier). He regularly sings in the most important Theatre and International Festivals and he has keept recitals in Naples, Bilbao, Rome, London, Wien, Lousanne, Granada, Gerusalem, anywhere acclaimed for his inimitable voice and extraordinary virtuosity. His recordings for EMI classics are very appreciated by public and critics and include: L'age d'Or des Castrats; Farinelli et son temps; Superbo di me stesso-Virtuosity Aires of XVII century-; Les castrats aux temps de Mozart. He has recorded several roles in baroque opera recordings: Aminta in L'Olimpiade and Caio in Ottone in villa, both of Vivaldi. He is also an appreciated singing teatcher in Italy and Greece |
