I love this movie and I love Sweet Arnie! And You?

The movie is about Grape Family. Gilbert Grape lives in an old farm in a small village :Endora ,Iowa. Gilbert isn't alone , but he lives with his fat mother, his brother Arnie (a mental disability boy) and two sister. Gilbert's life is terrible , he does everyday the same things with the same people …no change!

He attend of his mother who hadn't left the house in several years , and his brother Arnie.

But one day he meet Becky…

The Director chose Leo for this role because he liked the distance in his eyes. A lot of person thought that Leo was a very mental disability.

Leo studied a lot for this character, he met a young autistic man and finally realized several different ways to do this role. Arnie 's 18 years old , but he is still a baby…sweet baby.

This movie was shot with a little budget of $4 million in 8 weeks.The movie was filmed in New York (Leo love N.Y.) in the old district of Jim Carroll. Leo spent a lot of time with Jim and together visited a drug counselor.

For the role of Mickey the director wanted a rap singer and the underwear model Mark Wahlberg. But Leo thought that it was a terrible idea. Leo was afraid that he wasn't beatiful like a Mark. Then Leo and Mark became good friends

In the same time he was offered a role of James Dean and Rimbaud. Leo hadn't made up his mind yet. For this reason he decided to ask Jim Carroll which role he should choose . Jim said " you are crazy! Rimbaud is cool. He wanted to change this world with poems".

This movie was a flop , a big risk for Leo’s career. But Leo was happy to do Rimbaud , he described it like the best role for a young actor. Arthur was a homosexual , but Leo didn’t any problem for this. " this is a simply movie" but he admited : "it's very hard for me kiss a man".

This is an unconventional adaptation of Shakespeare's tragic and romantic love story. Starring sweet Leonardo Di Caprio as Romeo and the virginal Claire Danes as Juliet. The film is set, not in Verona Italy , but in a futuristic California suburb : Verona beach. The storyline remains the same: Romeo and Juliet defy their warring families by falling madly in love. Unfortunately ,this love doesn't conquer all but leads instead to their deaths. The director Baz Luhrmann, Australian, (Sticly ballroom) decided to do a classical story of "Romeo and Juliet" in a modern setting. Baz was very excited for this idea. He started to look for a young people for his movie. When he saw Leo's photo in a magazine , he thought "this is a perfect Romeo". Leo didn't want to do this movie , because he thought this story old for our time.Besides there was 1968 Zefirelli version . "Why do R&J again?" said Leo to Baz Luhrmann. And Baz said "because I want to do a fresh version of the story with love,sex and Rock-and -roll".

Baz really didn't know how Leo would handle the language…"but the words came out of his mouth as if it was the most natural language possible". In fact Leo performed Shakespeare in natural way.

The movie was shot in and around Mexico city. When the company arrived to the city very strange things began to happen. For example the company fought with wild and killers bees, Leo and Claire Danes suffered from dysentery , or when Leo and his friends went to nightclub and here fought with crazy security guard. It's incredible!!!

He has no idea what his background is ,where he come from or why he is in a iron mask. This movie is about old valors like passion and honour.Leo had the problems with the mask; he said: "It gets definitely claustrophobic and, within 10 minutes of being in there I could almost bash my head against the wall with frustration…I wore it around for a while and it just becomes part of you".
