The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

....And now the storm-blast came, and he
Was tytannous and strong;
He struck with his o'eartking wings,
and chased us south along.

With sloping masts and dipping prow,
As who pursued with yell and blow
Still treads the shadow of his foe,
And forward bends his head
The ship drove fast, loud roared the blast,
And southward aye we fled.

And now there came both mist and snow,
And it grew wondrous cold:
And ice, mast-high, came floating by,
As green as emerald....

The land of ice, and of fearfull sounds
where no living thing was to be seen.

La ballata del vecchio marinaio

....Finche venne l' uragano
E fu violento e forte:
Ci colpė con le sue ali
Spingendoci pių a sud

Con gli alberi piegati, la prua semisommersa
La nave continuava come chi
Calpesta ancora l'ombra del nemico
E avanti a colpi ed urla piega il capo.
Ruggiva forte intanto l'uragano
E sempre verso sud noi correvamo.

Poi vi fu neve e bruma
E in un freddo spaventoso
Monti di ghiacccio ci vennero incontro
Verdi come smeraldi....

La terra del ghiaccio e di rumori terribili
dove non si vedevano esseri viventi.
