The actor Raimondo Vianello is the presenter of Sanremo 1998 which takes place at the Teatro Ariston from the 24th to the 28th February 1998. Co-presenters the top model Eva Erzigova and the actress Veronica Pivetti. The late-night show Dopofestival will be hosted by Piero Chiambretti (Sanremo 1997 co-presenter) and the Neapolitan singer/actor Nino D’Angelo. Once agian the megastars such as Zucchero, Eros Ramazzotti and the main songwriters wont’enter the competition. They have also refused to be the Italian special guests the new rules allow and the RAI renounced to have any of them.. Bad news is that the winner won’t enter the ESC since Italy is out of the contest once again. The 48th Festival della Canzone Italiana will be broadcast live on RAIUNO (EUTELSAT "HOT BIRD 1" EST - 11.366 V) every competition day at about 20.40 CET (after the news). The songs will be performed live accompanied by a full orchestra, each entrant with a nominated conductor. Madonna will be special guest the first day. Other announced foreign guests are Acqua, Robbie Robertson, Backstreet Boys, Shola Ama, Michael Bolton, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Ricky Martin, Brian Adams, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion! |
