SIETAR Europa Congress

The 9th SIETAR Europa Congress will be held in Trieste (Italy) - February 24th - 27th 1999.

Why Trieste?

The founding of Trieste was an offspring of the Enlightenment culture which considered tolerance and coexistence as vital elements of economic growth.
Trieste has always been considered an "intercultural workshop": a borderland where different cultures have met and clashed but where they have also learnt how to live together.
Trieste has a multi-ethnic population: Italian majority, Slovenian and Croatian. It is multireligious and has a long standing tradition of Austrian culture.
For these reasons Trieste can represent a cross-roads towards a new Europe which is becoming "One community with many identities".

Who should attend SIETAR Congresses?

Professionals working with diverse cultures in business, educational institutes, human services, governmental agencies who want to:

  • increase their understanding and competence in the intercultural field
  • exchange information with European and local specialists
  • establish networks within and across disciplinary, professional and cultural boundaries.
