He liked Mickey Mouse, Jacovitti, Isaac Asimov,
Indro Montanelli, James Joice, Ennio Flaiano,
Bruno Munari...and Saul Steinberg.
His thesis was about pollution by pesticides. He graduated in 1971. The degree thesis opened with a cartoon of Robert Cobb.
Luca Novelli started to work for magazines in 1968 with articles and cartoons. The first book of Luca Novelli was "Gli edenisti" in 1975. In the same year he creates "Il laureato", a comic strip for newspapers.
"Viaggio al centro della cellula", (Trip into the cell) published in 1978 in Italy and in Mexico (Editorial Nueva Imagen). In 1983 he wrote and drawed "The fist book about computer" (Mondadori, in Italy), first of four volumes. Theese books were published in USA by Microsoft Press and translated in other 16 languages . In 1989, for Progetto Cultura Montedison - rcs/Milano Libri, he wrote "The History of Chemistry" and "The Natural Hystory", illustrated by Cinzia Ghigliano. Theese books were translated in Greece and France.
The series of tables were exibited at Museum of Natural History in Milan in 1990. Luca Novelli has been working forItalian television since 1986 as scientific consultant. In 1992 he wrote a book about his profession, where he explains the work of 8 friend-colleagues: Altan, Cavandoli, Johonny Hart, Quino, Mordillo, Stano Kochan, Ro Marcenaro,Ziraldo.
From 1992 to 2002 has been editor of G&D, Graphic-Design magazine. In 1993 he created the character of Albert Einstein' s clone. The little book "Ci vuole una fisica bestiale" (You need a massive physique) in Italy sold 100.000 copies. The text of second book, " Ho clonato lo zio Alberto" (I have cloned uncle Albert) is used for a theater play. In 1998 Luca Novelli created the book series for rcs/fabbri "The band of DNA". It is also a tv cartoon project with Michel Fuzellier (co-autor) and De Mas & partners (as producer). In 2001 for Editoriale Scienza he planned the series Lampi di Genio (Flashes of genius): the first has been EINSTEIN e le macchine del tempo ( Einstein and the time machines), biography of the father of modern physic. The serie continues with the biographies of Darwin, Galileo, Volta, (already published), Archimede, Mendel, Lavoisier, Pasteur, Newton, Marconi, Leonardo, Marie Curie. Luca Novelli lives and works in Milan. Sometimes he goes to "Cinque terre" were he grows lemmons, oranges, grapes...
