Stormo: an italian crack unit, its veterans developed a great combat
experience over Malta,
Sicily and North Africa; achieving more successes
in their 1943 fights from Sardinians bases. The fact that hey had
conserved humour even in those
tragic days is confirmed by the nickname
of their group “I soliti
quattro gatti”.
English
translation is : “The same old four cats”…To fully understand the
meaning the phrase You must know that the expression “four cats” means
also “very few people” in Italian. This
name was both referring to their insigna and to the extreme lack of new pilots
and planes.
