Filigree art boasts an age-old,
noble tradition. There is, in fact, much evidence of this kind
of art among the precious remains of the Etruscan goldsmith work
dating as far back as the VIII century B.C. and later among remains
of ancient Greek jewelry.
This kind of metal-smithing consists in bending and interweaving
fine threads of gold and silver and joining them with invisible
welding.
This ornamental technique derives from Ancient Eastern art which
was then used by Venetian and Genoese goldsmiths.
Alioto has been employing this ancient kind of metalworking since
1866, and has developed and perfected the new production techniques,
without, however, changing the metalsmithing methods which, today,
are still based on handwork. |

L'Arte della filigrana vanta
una secolare e nobile tradizione.
Esistono infatti numerose testimonianze di questi tipo di lavorazione
tra i reperti preziosi dell'oreficeria etrusca della fine del
VIII secolo a.C. e, successivamente, di quella greca.
La particolarità di questa lavorazione consiste nel incurvare
ed intrecciare fili sottilissimi d'oro o d'argento per riunirli
nei punti di contatto con impercettibili saldature.
Questa tecnica, che proviene dall'antico Oriente, è stata
poi praticata dagli orafi veneziani e genovesi.
Dal 1866, Alioto ha fatto propria questa antica Arte sviluppando
ed affinando le nuove tecniche di produzione e conservando immutata
la lavorazione che, ancora oggi, è eseguita a mano. |
