WHY?

From our many years' experience we have found that locals give the tourist on a cycle - the outsider - an especially warm welcome. Maybe this is because of the way local residents perceive the cyclist; with his slower pace and ecologically friendly means of transport. There is perhaps a more open attitude towards an outsider who arrives at one's house tired from his journey. Moreover, the good humour and the fun the cyclist brings along are well-known, especially because of the spirit of discovery and sense of achievement that cycling provides. The tour aims to provide an opportunity for complete cultural immersion, including the delights of traditional local food and wine.

FOR WHOM?

Suitable for all those who are looking for an active holiday in the Open air and willing to discover new places. For people who enjoy good health, who know how to cycle and who can cope reasonably well, even in bad weather (1). On request and subject to our con-firmation, a seat for a child, up to the age of 5, or a special bike trailer (ADD BIKE), for children between the ages of 6 and 10, can also be provided. Accompanying people who are non-cyclists will be accepted only in parti-cular cases.

Not recommended for mileage maniacs or those who see the bicycle as a way of becoming a tough guy. But reformed characters are accepted!

HOW?

The party is guided by an experienced leader. He/she will have all the useful local information and will solve any bike-related problems as well as being in daily contact with the organizers. An accompanying van with trailer will be on hand to transfer bicycles and luggage for non-cycling stages of the tour, so that the party will find their luggage waiting for them in their hotel room. It will also help or transport anyone wishing to take a break and skip a stage or part of it. For this purpose various meeting points along the way have been built in each day and the staff are in constant contact via radio. The cycling tour starts off at a the place indicated in the programme. You choose how to get there. This means that, if you like, you can plan an additional stay of a few days in the town of departure or of arrival to visit places of interest, according to your interests and requirements.

HOTEL ACCOMODATION

The hotels have been carefully selected and they are of a minumum three-star standard. An English-style breakfast is supplied.

THE STAFF

The tour assistants accompanying the party are specially trained and will be on hand to provide help and information. Local professional guides are available for places of particular local interest.

THE BICYCLES

The bicycles are supplied by the organizers and equipped with a safety lock and lockable containers in which you can carry your personal items - swimming costume, camera, any other clothes you may need during the day. Please remember to indicate your height when booking to allow us to provide you with the most suitable bicycle. For organizational reasons we do not allow participants to use their own bicycles. Should you wish to take your own bicycle with you, we regret this must be subject to confirmation and will exclude any mechanical assistance by our staff.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Halfboard accommodation is included (This starts from supper on the first evening and ends with breakfast on the last day), but drinks at meals are not included. All transport costs during the tour as well as admission charges for the cultural visits are included in the price.
