The "White Helmets" is specialized volunteer
corp organized by different countries belonging to the
international community to provide humanitarian
assistance to people that suffer extreme emergencies
caused by natural disasters, poverty, consequences of the
war and many reasons.
The initiative to form and prepare these teams was
launched by the President of Argentina, Carlos Menem, in
1993 and rapidly achieved worldwide acceptance.
The White Helmets Initiative enjoys high patronage of the
United Nations accepted by the unanimous decision in the
UN General Assembly. In some countries, such as Argentina,
the Governmental Commission was constituted. The other
governments are launching constitutions of such bodies
which provide the execution of tasks which calls for this
qualified work.
The "White Helmets Europe Foundation" was
constituted on November 23rd 1998 in Rome, Italy. It has
the exclusive task to initiate projects for the
improvement of the social situation in Italy and abroad
wherever the need exist. The goal of the Foundation is to
act immediately when and wherever its action is needed,
as in the cases of social and economical rehabilitation
of the people, improvement of the life of the persons in
dire, medical or economical situations.
While The Foundation is still waiting for the recognition
from competent national authorities, it is persuing
forward strongly and without any doubts. The Foundation
wishes to extend its actions beyond the European
continent, to the neighboring states, such as those from
the Mediterranean area. We are working in this sense.
This operation has been initiated by the other countries,
such as Argentina, and it has received significant
recognition for its accomplishments.
The White Helmets fights, and will fight against all
types of emergencies connected with all economical and
geopolitical events which had, or may have, negative
repercussions on the population stoked by those events.
The Foundation depends on its own funds and means. Those
funds are constituted, partially from the Foundation and
partially from people who are dedicated to this
initiative. Our donors, motivated to fulfil our
humanitarian task to confront the crises involving the
people in need, gives us the financial and material
support, believing in White Helmets to use and distribute
these goods and funds where they are most needed. We
