Queste litografie sono state create per espandere le atmosfere di una breve novella scritta per il mio progetto di tesi alla scuola d'arte, in Montréal, Canada.
La novella intitolata Somewhere Between Nirvana and Denial ("da qualche parte fra il Nirvana e il diniego") si è inizialmente ispirata a esperienze di vita vissuta, e poi sviluppata come un racconto immaginario in sette capitoli.
Le litografie sono state stampate durante un periodo di due mesi di soggiorno a Venezia, alla Bottega del Tintoretto, lavorando su tradizionale pietra litografica.
Nel novembre 2001 sarà allestita una mostra in Montréal, nella quale sarà inclusa una performance del primo capitolo della novella.
Un Disk Jokey collaborerà con musiche scelte insieme a me per l'occasione. I suoi mixaggi e le tipiche azioni di "scratching" sui dischi in vinile saranno come un ulteriore livello nella texture delle incisioni, e come queste ugualmente dirette a indicare l'importanza delle atmosfere della mia novella.
La storia che racconto riguarda la ricerca della gente di equilibri fra i sogni personali e le necessità pratiche. Questo è l'equilibrio che tutti cerchiamo, da qualche parte fra il Nirvana e il diniego.

These lithographs were created to expand the atmosphere of a short novella I wrote for my thesis project in Montréal, Canada.
Somewhere Between Nirvana and Denial was first inspired by real life experiences and developed as a work of fiction into seven chapters. The lithographs were printed during a two month artist residency at the Bottega del Tintoretto in Venice, using traditional lithography on stone. In November of 2001 an exhibtion will be mounted in Montréal and will include a performance of the first chapter of the text. A DJ will collaborate with music we have chosen together. His scratching and mixing will act as another layer of texture, again addressing the importance of atmosphere in the story. The story is about the balance that people search for between a quest for one's dreams and the necessity of the practical. This is the balance we all look for, Somewhere Between Nirvana and Denial.
