Audio Mastering
Mastering is that stage of the process between mixing
in the recording studio and press (duplication) of
the sound material.
At this stage many elements can still be changed by adjusting
parameters such as dynamics and equalization, for example in order to
make the sound of tracks recorded over a long period of time consistent
with one another.
Mastering requires high levels of understanding and determination,
which develops into practical experience.
Building on the considerable expertise gained over the years, Creative
Mastering is able to provide top-level pre-mastering service
for Super Audio CD (SACD), DVD, Blu-ray Disc, CD and vinyl.
Specialized equipment for mastering on new high resolution
audio formats is constantly updated.

Audio Editing
As it often happens, one may want to have several
versions of the same album or single
track
for various purposes: radio distribution, compilation album or
different releases in different countries; Creative Mastering gives you
this possibility, allowing to re-arrange a track or to mix the
instrumental version with the voice in different languages.
It is also possible to work on live recordings which
require editing or may just need to be re-assembled and mixed with the
original atmosphere of the recording, in order to make a marketable
project out of it.

Audio Restoring
It is possible to restore sound material
from different audio formats
such as stereo magnetic tapes and analog multichannel tapes (1/4",
1/2", 2") and digital cassettes (DAT, ADAT), vinyl or shellac records,
videotapes VHS/S-VHS, MiniDiscs and CDs.
Restoring is carried out by loading the sound material into digital
workstation at the best possible quality using PCM format up
to 24bit/192KHz or DSD format at 2.8224MHz. This allows to create a top-resolution
acoustic “photograph” of the sound material.
Once the sound has been loaded into the workstation it is possible to
make a backup copy of the high resolution audio files
for archive storing.
The audio material is now ready for processing: noise will be removed
by performing denoise algorithms on digital
workstation.
Cleaned audio files will then be revitalized in order
to restore what was lost during denoise.
This procedure is therefore divided into three separate stages: digital
transfer, in order to stop the damaging effects of time on the old
recording; noise removal and revitalization, in order to restore signal.

Online Mastering
Online Mastering is
the mastering service supplied via Internet through a secure FTP
server, which allows transfer of audio files using any FTP client that
supports SSL or TLS secure protocol (FTPS), as - for example - Filezilla
(available for both Mac and PC).
How the service works
After
being assigned a dedicated user code and password, the customer
accesses his private folders both to deposit the material to be
processed and to collect it when it is ready.
Once loaded, the files are controlled and processed with normal
processing procedures. Any problem which may occur will be communicated
to the customer, who will intervene to correct it or change the
requests. Subgroup mastering (stem mastering) is often used, that is a
technique where some separate elements of the mix can be corrected
directly by the person making the mastering.
A copy of each single file will then be sent to the customer for
approval and, after that, the master will be realized and made
available on the FTP server in the form of a disk image or DDP, or sent
directly to the customer or duplication facility by courier. Otherwise,
we can send a file containing the entire project, which can be read and
printed on any CD by means of an appropriate custom program for Macs
and PCs.
According to the customer’s preference, the files can also be
transferred by means of Web services such as, for example, YouSendIt.
On our site, on 'Informations'
page, you will find a link to our YouSendIt "Dropbox", where the
customer can send his files (maximum size of 2GB each). Once the
processing is done, the customer will receive by e-mail a link to
download the processed files.

OverNet Mastering
OverNet
mastering is a remote mastering service that allows customers to
witness the mastering session real-time from their own office. After transferring the files to be processed, the customer will receive
an internet address and, by means of a computer equipped with QuickTime
and audio output or thanks to an iPhone / iPad (with a special App) he will be able to listen to what
is being created and, if necessary, communicate new requests or changes.
Audio streaming have a data rate of 320Kbps (AAC compression), which
means that the quality is good enough to allow a real remote experience
on the net (OverNet).
When the processing is over, the master will be delivered to the
customer as previously described in the online mastering section. |
