THE TIME Of THE BEGINNING (IL TEMPO DELL'INIZIO), distributed from the Italnoleggio Cinematografico, with Sven Lasta, Rada Rassimov, Claudio Volonté, Jean Martin, Milena Vucotic.
Bn-127 minutes. Presented to the Biennial in Venice 1974. Official recommendation of the Cinematographic reviews(S.N.C.C.I) Winner of the Silver Ribbon 1975. Presented at the Festival of Young Cinema in Toulon 1975. Presented to the Festival in New Delhi 1976. Presented to the Review of the Italian Films in London (British Film Institute) 1976. Invited to the Festival in Valladolid 1975. The film, in black and white, is a metaphor of visionary character: the protagonist, David Lamda lives, inside his own visions, the research for a problematical salvation, outside the autodestructive mechanisms of man himself, who is involved in the temptations of over-whelming power.
"Closed in a lunatic asylum, a young person (Last) dreams about being victim of a cruel and dark dictatorship: on awakening, he will discover that the reality is not much more rosy. A work first taken and engaged, in equilibrium between Kafka and Orwell, to be appreciated above all for the oppressive and hallucinated atmosphere that characterises it..." from The Dictionary of the films 2000 of Paolo Mereghetti.
"Rich in significance THE TIME Of THE BEGINNING embodies an apocalyptic and visionary delirium and is a metaphor of the pains and the injustices suffered by humanity. The film is grave, dense, woven of slow movements , severe in the use of black and white, vivid in a mysterious scenery, and is inspired by the figurative arts of Dreyer..." From "Filmlexicon of authors and of works".
