Oct. 29, 2000
- Added Survivors to the Fanfic Summary.
Oct. 29, 2000
Gasp - this was one dry spell! Don't worry, folks, McKay is still first and foremost in my mind (I'll let you decide if this is a good or a bad thing). I've just had tons of "real-life" work, for which I'm grateful. A small update, waiting for the big one:
- Updated the Fanfic Summary with the latest ideas. My Season 2 is definitely NOT like a cellar for odd stories anymore.
- Added important sites to my Links, some long due, some new and sparkling. While I was at it, I put the page in order - I have so many links.
PREVIEWS for this week (I hope... I'm overjoyed to notice I did at least some of the things I previewed in past weeks):
- NEW STORIES!!! (Got 2 almost finished, just need to get my BRAIN back to pull them together...)
- New drawings for upcoming stories, and links from each story to the drawing.
- PR work - joining webrings, writing other web masters, asking various permissions...
- New Eliot pictures.
- News on DB's latest projects.
- Making a banner for my site and add other sites' banners in my Links.
- Still have to fix my costumes page, the Scrapbook and the details of the essays.
- The most distasteful chore of all... have to choose a new provider and change address. I hate doing this, now that my site is popping out in so many places, but I can't afford paying for my space anymore, especially when there are so many opportunities of having it for free. I'd like to keep at least a similar e-mail, but to do this I have to wait for my own to expire, which will be at the end of November. I'll send everybody and post everywhere the new address as soon as it's ready.
Sept. 25, 2000
- Added captions to DQMW pictures. Still can't figure out how to make table columns of the same width.
- Added (wherever possible!) the WAV file of McKay talking about O'Connor, courtesy of Cinnamon.
- Messed up once again the Fanfic Summary...
- Added the Errata page in the Fanfic Summary.
Sept. 1, 2000 - First McKay Anniversary!
Back from holidays, time to clean the house... and to celebrate.
- Added to the Unofficial Guide my diary/comment on my own fanfic stories, "An Identity Crisis in Colorado Springs", and pictures of Corporal Winters.
- Added to the DB Reviews a special celebration piece, David Beecroft on DQMW.
- Added a lot of McKay pictures in the Gallery.
- Improved the Fanfic Summary, adding synopses and the link to our passalong fanfic, "Portraits of a Town", which of course features McKay! "Dawn at the Greasy Grass" has changed title once again, to "A Study in Shadows", hopefully for good. After reading more carefully my history texts, I decided that "Early Afternoon at the Greasy Grass" would be historically more correct but sounds like an Impressionist painting.
- Added to the Links the address of Cinnamon's DQMW Guest Stars site, CCCook's Les Miserables site and the instructions on how to join the DQMW List.
- Put order in the fanfic pages, making them more legible, correcting some blunders (the use of the metric system in "The Halloween Unmentionable", for example), aligning the borders...
PREVIEW: in the future there are many chores that I'll have to undertake:
- Improving the DB Scrapbook, trying to get around the IMDB mess and providing credits in good order for all the movies.
- Writing the captions for all the new pictures.
- Correcting the essays according to new things I've discovered with another dozen of viewings.
- Put order in the page with my own pictures, now that I'm more fluent with HTML and images, and add new dresses.
- Make a more detailed list of Errata in my fanfic - now that the first season is over I have many little things I'd like to smooth out.
- Check everything with Netscape, to be sure there are no booboos.
Aug 13, 2000
- Posted my first (and probably last) "All My Children" fanfic, The End of the World.
- Posted a Julia Barr (Brooke) interview in the AMC Watch.
- Scattered some DB pictures in my main pages, they always look good... Also rearranged the DB Page, gathering all AMC stuff under one heading. It could be better, but I'm working on it.
Aug 5, 2000
- Posted the second part of Knockin' On Heaven's Door. My first season is over!
- Updated the AMC Watch with new projects (upcoming fanfic...) and the results of the About.com poll, which saw Eliot in the lead with Marilyn.
July 29, 2000
- Finally posted the first part of Knockin' On Heaven's Door. I'll add the second part next week. I've realised that here and in From Hell's Heart I've taken for granted certain happenings in Balance of Nature, which I always claimed was an alternative story... Oh well, the parts I quoted didn't need to be alternative, and I liked the idea of closing my season with a reminder of my first McKay story. It also makes some sense.
- Added to the Songs my latest musical discovery, "No Man's Land" ("Green Fields of France"), which by the way gave me a title for my Civil War Novel... look it up in the Summary!
July 23, 2000
- Added in the Gallery a nice page of "All My Children" pictures, courtesy of Sonny and her AMC Daytime page!
- Added more Reviews on "The David Beecroft Page".
- Added the preview of "The Vision", a new "Safe Passage" story on the Summary... this one came out of some discussions with the ladies of the Delphi forum and with some friends of mine! We'll see if I'll ever be able to pull it off...
July 15, 2000
While I prepare the big first part of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door", the weekly (sort of) update is mostly contacts and PR:
- Added the AMC links and some friends' sites on my Links page.
- Joined the
Men of AMC Webring!
- Tried to contact the IMDB to add and correct some data about David Beecroft (I don't know why they split his career into two pages, as though Eliot Freeman and Sgt. McKay weren't played by the same person!!!) but it's not so easy... I registered, but then I was asked to compile a complicated table, and the changes would have appeared automatically on the page... you understand that this must be thought out well.
July 6, 2000
- After some Netscape users complained of defects in the site, I checked most of it and I think I have greatly reduced the problems. Let me know about any inconvenience!
- I added some introductory words to the DB Page, Welcome, Stranger.
June 30, 2000
- Already posted the new Gallery with new pictures from "Safe Passage"!
- Finally made the visual revision of The David Beecroft Page, having learned to use HTML tables. Soon all main defects will be fixed.
June 29, 2000
- Posted From Hell's Heart.
- New page of pictures from "Promised Land"!!! And more is coming... Soon a major restyling of my growing gallery!
June 15, 2000
- Added the "McKay Mugs and Saddle Stickers" to The Silly Page.
- Added the whole essay McKay: The Ineffectual Hero.
- Made the fundamental corrections to Telegraph Road.
June 9, 2000
Some previews. I put some new story outlines in my Summary. My Second Season is beginning to look more and more like a cellar where I push the stories which don't fit in the First Season time frame. "Highlander" will be just a short divertissement; "That Which Survives", instead, is a very important ring in a very important thread which starts with the Civil War Novel (does this mean I have to write the Civil War Novel before the Second Season? Shock, horror) and ends with the temporarily-retitled "Dawn at the Greasy Grass" (the history buffs out there will have recognised the reference), passing through "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". Trust me - I know what I'm talking about. It's very difficult to have in mind the fullest possible picture and to put all references to past and future in my present stories, so that in the end it will all be coherent without me needing to go back and edit... but it's also fascinating.
June 1, 2000
- "Take us to your leader!" said the little blue bullets.
- I incorporated the link to the McKay Pictures into The David Beecroft Page.
- Added on the DB Page a link to a cute poll site, Sexiest Soap Guys.
- Added on the News the link to an intriguing article about DB's career as a hairstylist.
- Went back to the AMC Watch to add a little piece of news about DB's new role, which is quite outdated now, but it's the only one that mentioned "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"!
- Why, oh why, oh why did I post "Telegraph Road" all together? Had I split it into four weeks, I'd have had the time to check it a little more, for example discovering that a crate of ammunition going off in a closed room isn't likely to leave anyone alive! So, expect for next week a full revision of the story - and maybe a new one for the week after that, "From Hell's Heart", formerly known as "Home of the Brave". (A pity, I liked the first title too, but... you'll see.) I also changed "From Hell's Heart"'s synopsis, to adapt it to the most recent changes.
May 25, 2000
- Added the link to my historical re-enactment group to Meet SoldierBlue. Soon the site will be available also in English.
- Simplified some links around the site, also to avoid confusion between "McKay's Story" and The David Beecroft Page. I thought that this update page and the Links page could be common to both sections, so accordingly I added them to "The David Beecroft Page".
- Updated the AMC Watch adding the day of DB's first appearance. As soon as I have enough material, I'll add a sort of episode guide, still very tentative in its concept.
- Added in the Scrapbook the link to some info on Hearts are Wild.
May 18, 2000
- Today is the day that David Beecroft makes his debut on "All My Children", and I decided to celebrate by updating The David Beecroft Page and making it much better (apart from some visual problems, which I'll solve as soon as I can).
- The £$%&§*XXX webcounter is NOT working, and your brave Webmistress is not amused...
May 12, 2000
- Added more Songs.
- Added the Reviews page to my David Beecroft Page, beginning with the "Murder, She Wrote" review, and separated the AMC Watch page. One day I'll also make the DB page better-looking and with a more distinctive character - after all, Mr. Beecroft is different from Sgt. McKay!
- Added on the main page my brand new and very satisfactory Web Counter! This also marks the first successful steps taken by your brave Webmistress in the world of HTML codes, which means I will be less limited by the quirks and slowness of HTML editors... as you can see, on the main page the link to my e-mail address is back in its place.
May 8, 2000
- Telegraph Road is up. Now I'm going to sleep for a week!
April 26, 2000
- As you may have noticed from the main page, this site is now a proud member of the new DQMW Supporting Cast Webring, by our esteemed Ringmistress, CCCook!
- Finally added to the Fanfic Summary a new story, Justice, a giant leap towards the publishing of "Telegraph Road"...
- Added some "All My Children" info on the David Beecroft Page. As soon as I have more time, I'm afraid I'll have to do an independent AMC page... pink clashes with blue and yellow.
April 20, 2000 - Happy Birthday to me!
As a special present, I put up my new Poetry page with my first McKay poem...
April 11, 2000
- Added new links and a "News" section (with some juicy news!) on my David Beecroft Page.
- Added some trivia on the Unofficial Guide.
April 7, 2000
Well, I'm already lagging behind because of work - I'm afraid I'm paying the rush of McKay activity up to here, which made me put aside a lot of things... - and moreover, last week I forgot to upload this page, so that it looked like there were no news! (There actually were not, but that way it seemed I had not even given it a thought!) "Telegraph Road" is taking up time: it could turn out a three-parter. I also lost a lot of work on the logo, discovering my resources don't allow me to do what I pictured. I'll have to do with the simple title for a little more!
- Added a hilarious note by Jazz on The Silly Page.
- Added a "Thanks" section on the main page, to remember all together all the wonderful people who gave me a hand in various ways.
- Added in the Fanfic Summary the addresses of the other McKay stories written by fans, so that they can be seen all at a glance. Also, the plan for a new Season 2 story.
- Some more info in the Unofficial Guide on Corporal Winters, who by now is practically a nobody, but hopefully will have more space in the future. Also, direct links to scripts.
- Some new addresses in the David Beecroft page.
- Some blue bars here and there.
March 28, 2000
- Nothing new, except that I realised in "Out There" I had put an open window that Jake had already closed, and some other minor corrections.
March 21, 2000 - Happy First Day of Spring!
- Added at last the McKay Pictures page, with the first four screen captures, courtesy of Mrs. Rev! When I have more I'll have to change the format of the page, but right now I can do with this.
- Added the Songs page. (No comment.)
- Added the results of the PAX chat poll to The Silly Page.
- Added Mrs. Rev's site to my Links.
- Added a link to a small Class of '96 page on my David Beecroft Page.
- Some new graphics and overhauling of some pages, included a more orderly main page.
March 13, 2000
- At last, the January story, "Out There", is up. For those who have already read "... That Never Finds the Day", remember this comes before, both chronologically and as to the psychological development of the characters. I thank the girls of the chat for allowing me to use Isabel's name, and I apologise if somewhere Robert E's and Grace's baby is still a "he". Now, on with the March story...
- Added Carolyn Williams' site to my Links.
- Added an experimental David Beecroft Page, with links to info about his movies. I'm doubtful whether to keep it like this, which is slightly redundant because many pages don't deal specifically with him, or make a compilation of data myself, which is long and could give me problems of copyright.
March 6, 2000
- The new page of My Drawings is up!
- Added new costumes in Meet SoldierBlue. I still have to check the historical dates and give proper credit to all costumes, but at least now all pictures are posted (till the next party or camp...)
February 28, 2000
Being still shamelessly behind with updates, I'll make you a preview of things to come!
- The new logo. No more the title written in Times New Roman, but a nice gif with a background and a romantic font! And new graphics.
- A special page about David Beecroft: a direct link to the IMDB, complete list of movies, reviews, links and news.
- A page with my drawings!
- New costumes added to my costume page.
- * Screen captures *... courtesy of my friend Sugar... can't wait for her new computer to arrive!
- And of course, new stories and essays, and new DQMW links...
February 21, 2000
- At last the January story is taking shape! I put title and synopsis in the Fanfic Summary. I hope to post it before the end of February or beginning of March, so that I can post the March story immediately afterwards. (Am I obsessed or what?)
- On my main page I added two David Beecroft references, small but interesting.
- I added in the Links: Sunny's Place.
- Lastly, I added some yellow bars here and there and tried to shape up the main page. Now it gives me a headache.
February 14, 2000
- Happy Valentine's Day! Having absolutely no new texts to add, my special present to McKay is the nice cloth background for the main page and the other texture backgrounds (see main page for credits). I'm trying to give the site a rugged, homespun look, and this version may be still temporary, but it's a beginning in that direction. I'm still having a miserable time in figuring out how to do all this - the price for the new main page is the disappearance of the link to my address... I haven't a clue...
February 7, 2000
- All right, so my main page turned blue and yellow. Expect even more wild changes of style in the upcoming weeks. I'm still experimenting with various HTML editors, and I did a general restyling of the site. Some pages may look the same, but I changed the inner structure of the site. So *please*, if you find links that don't work, ill-looking fonts or other blunders, let me know!
- Added the diary "Why McKay" in The Silly Page. It's not especially silly, but it's not serious enough to go in the Unofficial Guide.
- Added the link to the Friends of Jane website in my Links page.
- Since I'm beginning to have ideas for other post-Knockin' stories, I split the stories in the Fanfic Summary between First Season and Second Season.
January 31, 2000
- Last week I added the Valentine story, so I have decided to stop posting stories until March. I have caught up with the season and now I can slow down and polish accurately the stories I haven't posted yet. "Telegraph Road" is very complex; the season finale, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", and its coda, "A Time to Forgive", need careful timing and drastic decisions about when to make certain events happen, and what I want to say while present conditions hold (confusing, yes, I know). So for a while I'll just work on improving the rest of the site. Maybe I'll also get inspiration for the January story. I also added to the Fanfic Summary the working title and synopsis of a story set two years in the future and centered on the Battle of Little Big Horn.
- I added more pictures of me in period clothing in the pictures page Meet SoldierBlue. I'm not exceedingly satisfied with the result, but I'm working on it.
- I gathered all my "playful" pages under the heading of The Silly Page, adding yet another piece of foolishness, the essay "On Uniforms". This prompted me to be a little more precise in my main page Disclaimer. Anybody could come here and read my site, and I mean *anybody*... a frightening thought. So I want to be as respectful as I can!
January 24, 2000
- It doesn't hurt to add links to my new features directly from this page!
- Added to the Fanfic Summary "... That Never Finds the Day", the Valentine's Day story. (Now that I think about it, it's not exceedingly romantic, yet...) I was planning to write a story set in January 1874, but it's not gripping me enough. Well, I can always come back later and put it in.
- Also added to the Fanfic Summary the working title and synopsis of a new story I'm considering, "Home of the Brave", and also my madcap project, the still-unnamed Civil War Novel.
- After reading interesting comments in the DQMW List about the neglected characters of O'Connor and the even more unknown Walks in the Night, I tried to moderate my bluntness on the former and added some mentions of the latter in the Unofficial Guide. It's very little yet, but I plan to go back on this. I feel I have been unfair to O'Connor... but one can take only so much of "Ah, yes, McKay, the one who fell from the cliff" without experiencing some sort of negative reaction!
January 17, 2000
- Added to the Fanfic Summary "Sons of the Fire", the Thanksgiving story, thus closing all gaps before "The Light of the World."
- Added a pic of me under the heading Meet SoldierBlue.
- Added Debby K's fanfic site and the William Shockley Official Site to my precious Links.
January 10, 2000
- Added "The Halloween Unmentionable" to the Fanfic Summary.
- Gave a progressive number to the stories' filenames, so that, if somebody downloads them, it is possible to have them in chronological order. (OK, so I'm a sucker for precision, that's what they teach you in the Cavalry!)
- Managed to split The Army Kittens into two parts (as befits a two-part episode) instead of four. Unfortunately now the two pages look very crammed, especially the second one, but that's because I had to tamper with the margins, since the HTML editor I'm using doesn't allow me more than a given number of lines. I'll see what I can do with other editors.
January 3, 2000 - First time I write the new date!!!
- Added to the Fanfic Summary "All God's Children", a story which takes place in September 1873, thus going back to the chronological order after the jump forward with "The Light of the World".
- Having a little more time, I made some minor corrections to "The Light of the World".
- Since many friends, unfamiliar with season 6 or even with DQMW, asked me what McKay looks like, I moved the link to Bee's picture website on my index page.
December 26, 1999
- Since I am late in posting the Halloween and Thanksgiving stories, I hurried the Christmas one, to be at least once in accordance with the season. You can find it in the Fanfic Summary under the title "The Light of the World" (formerly known as "The Stuff of Dreams").
- In the Links section I added the link to CCCook's Fan Exchange Forum.
- Due to popular demand, I downplayed a little my sarcasm towards Sgt. McKay in the Unofficial Guide... he's not responsible for the fact that some scenes just turned out bad in the episodes!
December 21, 1999
- Added "The Red Needle Trilogy" in the Fanfic Summary.
- Added the Unofficial Guide to McKay, a work in progress which should ideally cover all aspects of the character, in the DQMW episodes and in my stories.
December 14, 1999
- First of all I managed to post the big one: "The Army Kittens" is ready at last!
- More accessories have been added: the Links page and, of course, the present recapitulation.
- I also improved the Fanfic Summary, adding the working titles and synopses of the stories I haven't written yet. All the others are already written and just need some polishing to be posted.
- I watched "When a Child is Born" once again, and can now be more precise about Sgt. O'Connor (I said Sgt. *O'Connor*) and his career in the Very Useful Comparison Table.
